LAUDUN: NEW CÔTES DU RHÔNE CRU
2024 will be the first vintage for Laudun, the new Côtes du Rhône Cru. The former Côtes du Rhône Villages Laudun obtained the recognition of the INAO (National Institute for Origin and Quality) as a communal appellation this Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
Aware of the potential and quality of their production, Laudun winegrowers filed for accession to Appellation Locale Laudun with the INAO in 2013.
This past Wednesday, the National Committee voted in favour of its recognition, thus rewarding the real qualitative and collective dynamic undertaken in recent years for both red and white Laudun wines. It is also worth noting that white wines represent 32% of total production, a major asset for Laudun in view of consumers’ appetite for this colour.
The appellation therefore officially becomes the 18th Cru of Côtes du Rhône, as part of the hierarchization process implemented within the regional “Côtes du Rhône” appellation.
Eager to show of the fruits of their labour, the vinegrowers and winemakers of the new Cru are looking forward to the beginning of next year, the highlight being Wine Paris in February, for the first tastings and the unveiling of their many projects.
